NBA regular season, tomorrow's January 21st point spread win/loss analysis and prediction for the second part:
Suns vs Cavaliers (-7.5)
Pre-game analysis:
The Suns defeated the Pistons in their last game to secure a two-game winning streak. Durant struggled in the first half but found his form in the second half, finishing with 36 points, 7 rebounds, and 5 assists on 13-of-27 shooting. Booker had a good shooting night, scoring 35 points with 5 rebounds and 3 assists on 11-of-22 shooting. Newcomer Richards was impressive, contributing 21 points and 11 rebounds on 7-of-8 shooting for a double-double. However, the Suns' defense is not strong, and they may struggle against the Cavaliers, who have an excellent offensive capability.
Mitchell and Garland both performed well as the Cavaliers won without Mobley. Mitchell scored 36 points with 8 rebounds and 7 assists on 12-of-27 shooting, while Garland has been playing more reasonably this season, scoring 29 points with 5 rebounds and 6 assists on 8-of-19 shooting. The Cavaliers have a deep roster with players who can shoot well and score effectively, ranking second in the league in average points per game.
Point spread win/loss prediction:
The Cavaliers are favored by 7.5 points at home, and I predict that the Cavaliers will win, covering the spread at home.
Celtics vs Warriors (+6.5)
Pre-game analysis:
The Celtics have been in poor form recently, with a record of 2 wins and 3 losses in their last five games. They lost in overtime to the Hawks in their last game, making continuous mistakes. The "Two Towers" underperformed, with Tatum scoring 23 points, 8 rebounds, and 7 assists on 7-of-21 shooting, and Brown scoring 24 points, 11 rebounds, and 8 assists on 9-of-27 shooting. The team is still quite strong overall, but they have recently hit a low point. If they play normally, they are still a team with excellent offense and defense.
The Warriors defeated the Wizards in their last game, with Curry being accidentally injured in the ankle by Poole. It should not be a major issue. In the last game, Curry had a poor three-point shooting percentage, making only 4 out of 14 attempts, finishing with 26 points, 5 rebounds, and 6 assists on 10-of-22 shooting. Wiggins stepped up, scoring 31 points with 11 rebounds and 4 assists on 12-of-22 shooting. The Warriors are dealing with injury concerns, have an older lineup, are physically smaller, and lack natural talent, limiting their scoring ability. Opponents can often win by simply shutting down Curry.
Point spread win/loss prediction:
The Celtics are favored by 6.5 points on the road, and I predict that the Celtics will win, covering the spread on the road.
Jazz vs Pelicans (-10.5)
Pre-game analysis:
In their last meeting, the Jazz lost to the Pelicans. The Jazz are determined to tank this season and seem beyond saving. The Pelicans' poor record is due to the absence of key players rather than intentional tanking, with Zion having returned and the team securing three consecutive victories.
Point spread win/loss prediction:
The Pelicans are favored by 10.5 points, which seems excessive. I predict that the Jazz will win, covering the spread on the road.
Bulls vs Clippers (-5.5)
Pre-game analysis:
Both teams are playing back-to-back games. The Bulls focus on offense, ranking fourth in the league in average points scored, but their defense is almost non-existent, with the second-highest average points allowed in the league. The outcome of their games largely depends on their shooting performance.
The Clippers have a defensive advantage, allowing the third-fewest points in the league. In back-to-back games, Leonard is unlikely to play, leaving Harden to organize and connect the team, which he has done well. The Clippers have a clear advantage playing at home tomorrow.
Point spread win/loss prediction:
The Clippers are favored by 5.5 points at home, and I predict that the Clippers will win, covering the spread at home.
