On the afternoon of January 19th, Shandong Taishan's satellite team, Brazil Sports (a team from the A3 league of Sao Paulo state, Brazil), faced off against Guangdong Guangzhou Leopard, coached by former national player Li Bing, in a friendly match at Huadu Stadium. The result was a 2-0 victory for Guangdong Guangzhou Leopard, breaking their opponent's previous streak of five undefeated games.
This was the sixth friendly match for Brazil Sports recently. Prior to this, they had won 6-0 and 3-2 against Shandong Taishan B team, located in the second-tier Chinese league, followed by victories of 3-1 and 4-0 against another newly promoted team in the second-tier league, Shenzhen Youth. They then drew 1-1 with the Super League team Qingdao Hainiu.
It is worth noting that the match between Brazil Sports and Qingdao Hainiu took place on the afternoon of January 18th, meaning that Brazil Sports played two high-intensity friendly matches in two consecutive days.
After completing a two-week training camp in Meizhou, the Guangzhou team returned to Guangzhou on January 17th. During the training camp, the players maintained good competitive form, with Liang Xueming, Tu Dongxu, and Xia Dalong being selected for the Guangdong team's roster for the first round of the Shenggang Cup football tournament.
It is reported that in order to test the recent training results and further evaluate the players, as well as to fine-tune the lineup, Guangdong Guangzhou Leopard plans to play three friendly matches before the Spring Festival. This match against Brazil Sports was the first one.
The pace of the game was fast, both in attack and defense, similar to the previous day's match against Qingdao Hainiu. Perhaps due to fatigue from continuous matches, Brazil Sports failed to maintain their undefeated streak and ultimately lost 0-2 to Guangdong Guangzhou Leopard.
Guangzhou Guangzhou Leopard is a newly promoted team in the 2025 season of the second-tier Chinese league. In the 2024 season of the third-tier Chinese league, they achieved a strong championship with a record of 19 wins, 5 draws, and 4 losses, scoring 50 goals and conceding 17, accumulating 62 points, and were promoted to the second-tier league. In the new season, after further strengthening, the overall strength of this newly promoted team is still promising.
