Official Announcement! Former Shandong Taishan Coach Announces Departure, Won 9 Titles in 5 Years

On December 29th, Beijing time, the dynamics of domestic football continue to attract attention. Currently, all Chinese Super League teams are actively preparing for the upcoming 2025 season. According to the latest news, the Taishan team will reconvene on January 6th to officially kick off the preparations for the new season. They will first go to Shanghai for special training.

Despite rumors that head coach Choi Kang-hee has left the team, there is no definitive news at present. Another piece of news is that Li Xiaopeng, a former Taishan team veteran, will join Qingdao Hainiu.

Meanwhile, there is also news of a coach's departure. At the beginning of this year, Yu Yuanwei, the newly promoted horse of the China League One Chongqing Tongliang Long Club, took over as the team's head coach. After the end of this season, although the team achieved remarkable results, in order to achieve better results in the new season, they chose to hire a foreign head coach.

At 5 pm on the 26th, Chongqing Tongliang Long Club officially announced that after friendly consultations and reaching an agreement, Mr. Yu Yuanwei will no longer serve as the head coach of the team from today onwards. Joining Yu Yuanwei in leaving the team are five coaches: Zhang Hao, Shen Tianfeng, Wang Kai, Robert, and Huang Weixin.

For Yu Yuanwei, Shandong fans must be very familiar with him. In his playing days, he was selected into the Shandong Youth Football Team in 1990. In 1995, he started and helped the Taishan team win the first-ever Chinese FA Cup championship, earning the honorary title of "New Long March Vanguard," a first-class merit from Shandong Province, and selection to the national Olympic team. In 2000, Yu Yuanwei transferred to Xiamen Red Lions and won the 2002 Jia B championship. In 2004, he returned to the Taishan team, finishing second in the 2004 Chinese Super League and winning the FA Cup championship before retiring the following year.

During his coaching career, Yu Yuanwei also achieved remarkable results. From 2012 to 2020, he coached at Luneng Football School, and from 2020 to 2023, he coached at the club. In 2015, he led the team to win the national U15 league championship. In 2018, he won the national U15 championship, the FA Cup U15 championship, and the U15 championship cup. In 2019, Yu Yuanwei led the team to win the national U17 CSL final championship, the U17 FA Cup championship, and the U17 championship cup. In 2022, he led the team to win the inaugural national youth league U19 group championship, and in 2023, he won the U21 league championship. He won 9 championships in just 5 years.

With this departure, it means that he will have better opportunities for choice. We look forward to Yu Yuanwei having a bigger stage in the future and coaching a Chinese Super League team. What do you think about this? Welcome to leave your comments and thank you everyone.
