After leaving Manchester United, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer remained unemployed for a long time, with some speculating that he might retire from coaching altogether. However, the 51-year-old has now returned to the field. According to renowned journalist Fabrizio Romano, Solskjaer has agreed to coach the Turkish Super League giants Besiktas.

During his playing career, Solskjaer only played for two teams: Norway's Molde club and the English Premier League's Manchester United. He spent a total of 11 years at Manchester United. In 2007, Solskjaer retired from Manchester United and subsequently began his coaching career.

In December 2018, following Jose Mourinho's departure, Solskjaer became the interim manager of Manchester United. Due to his remarkable achievements, he was soon appointed as the permanent manager. In November 2021, Solskjaer was relieved of his duties, concluding nearly three years as the head coach of Manchester United.

After leaving Manchester United, Solskjaer seemed to have lost interest in coaching, rejecting offers from multiple clubs. In interviews, he stated that he is not short of money and would not compromise himself for financial reasons. There were reports that Solskjaer only wanted to coach Manchester United and the Norwegian national team, disregarding other teams.

Now, Solskjaer has changed his mind. Under the persistent invitation of Besiktas, Solskjaer has terminated his contract. Romano reported that Solskjaer will travel to Turkey today to sign a contract with Besiktas, with the agreement set to last until June 2026.

This season, Besiktas' performance has been less than ideal, currently ranking sixth in the Turkish Super League, trailing the top by a significant 20 points. Interestingly, Jose Mourinho is also coaching in the Turkish Super League, with his team Fenerbahce currently in second place.
