Everyone knows that at the beginning of the New Year, CBA Company issued a fine. The reason for issuing the fine was that Zhao Rui collided with the referee during the game. Zhao Rui, the guard of Xinjiang men's basketball team, was suspended for five games and fined 100,000 yuan. Later, Zhao Rui apologized through social media, saying that he respected and accepted the punishment and would express his apology in actual actions. Although Zhao Rui apologized, the problem of CBA referees has not been solved. It can be said that after Zhao Rui was punished, there were frequent misjudgments by referees on the court, which led to great doubts about the current CBA referees. Whether they can blow the whistle in the game is really unbelievable. Recently, according to the report of "China Youth Daily", the Chinese Basketball Association specially held an online referee meeting to discuss the existing refereeing problems in the CBA League. This meeting put forward new requirements for referees, emphasizing the high attention to the order and fairness of the game. The reason why the Basketball Association attaches so much importance to this is because Zhao Rui previously appealed to the CBA official body, requesting reform of the CBA referees.
Now it seems that Zhao Rui's appeal has been successful. Now some fans also say that the problem of CBA referees has been a long-standing issue and has never been resolved. If it is a problem of professional ability, it is okay. What is feared is other problems that lead to inconsistent judgments before and after the same action, or fouls are called for one team but not for another, or some actions are only fouls when made by players, but not by other players, or domestic players and foreign players are judged differently for the same actions. Referees now simply do not treat everyone equally. To put it bluntly, they are amateur referees. In fact, CBA Company should now cultivate full-time referees belonging to CBA, just like NBA referees in the United States, arrange the schedule well, with thirty to forty referees being enough, with annual salaries controlled between 300,000 to 500,000 yuan, which amounts to less than 1 million yuan per club. During the off-season, these referees can earn extra money, and at the end of the season, coaches and players from each club can rate the referees, with those below the passing line being directly eliminated. Only in this way can CBA referees be considered regular.
