The new season of the Chinese Women's Volleyball League is in full swing. On the court of the Shandong Youth Women's Volleyball Team, Olympic champion Yang Fangxu has made an appearance! What's even more delightful is that Yang Fangxu is leading the Shandong Youth Women's Volleyball Team into the Super League as head coach this time. Upon seeing this, fans have also been quick to give their support and praise to Yang Fangxu!
Public records show that Yang Fangxu was born in Weifang, Shandong in 1994! Her position on the field is as a spiker. From a young age, Yang Fangxu had excellent physical conditions; at the age of 13, she stood at 1.83 meters tall and had very good body coordination! By chance, she was spotted by a volleyball coach. Because Yang Fangxu had always performed well academically, her parents initially did not agree for her to take up volleyball training. After much consideration, however, they eventually gave their consent! In 2008, Yang Fangxu joined the Shandong provincial team. In 2012, she followed the Chinese National Youth Women's Volleyball Team to win the Asian Youth Championship. In 2013, after winning the World Youth Championship with the National Youth Team, Yang Fangxu caught the attention of Lang Ping and was recruited into the national team.
Afterwards, through her own efforts, Yang Fangxu gradually established herself within the national team. In 2014, she followed the Chinese women's volleyball team to achieve fourth place at the Swiss Women's Volleyball Elite Tournament. In 2015, Yang Fangxu participated in the World Championships with the Chinese women's team and ultimately won the runner-up title. In 2016, she followed the Chinese women's volleyball team to win the Rio Olympic gold medal. Following the Rio Olympics, Yang Fangxu suffered a major injury. She made a comeback in 2017, but her condition was not good. Although she continued to train with the national team, she did not have any opportunities to compete. In 2018, Yang Fangxu participated in the World Women's Volleyball League with the Chinese team, making sporadic appearances that clearly showed a significant decline in form post-injury. She subsequently faded out of the national team. The year 2019 was particularly challenging for Yang Fangxu. First, she was banned from international competition for four years due to a doping incident by the International Volleyball Federation. Then, her romantic relationship, which had just begun, quickly came to an end.
It is reported that media outlets revealed Yang Fangxu shopping with Shandong men's basketball center Tao Hanlin, exposing their relationship. However, less than half a year later, Yang Fangxu posted on social media expressing that she was setting off again alone. This meant that Yang Fangxu and Tao Hanlin had broken up!
Honestly speaking, many people believed that Yang Fangxu would bid farewell to volleyball after being banned during her peak career period. Unexpectedly, Yang Fangxu reappeared, not as a player but as a coach. Currently, Yang Fangxu serves as an assistant coach for the Shandong women's volleyball team and is also the head coach of the Shandong youth women's volleyball team. Upon learning this news, some fans left messages on social media saying that Yang Fangxu is following in the footsteps of her mentor, Lang Ping, and may one day coach the Chinese women's volleyball team, leading them to the highest podium. Is this really going to happen? Only time will tell!
